JURASSIC WORLD Timeline Explained

JURASSIC WORLD Timeline Explained

Brief Summary

This video provides a comprehensive timeline of the Jurassic Park/World saga, starting from the initial cloning efforts by InGen to the eventual integration of dinosaurs into the modern world. It covers key events, characters, and scientific breakthroughs that shaped the franchise.

  • The initial dream of bringing dinosaurs back to life.
  • The chaos and consequences of genetic engineering.
  • The struggle for coexistence between humans and dinosaurs.

Before Jurassic Park

In the 1970s, John Hammond and Benjamin Lockwood founded InGen with the goal of cloning dinosaurs using DNA extracted from mosquitoes trapped in amber. Hammond envisioned a theme park to share these creatures with the world, initially planning Jurassic Park San Diego in 1983, which was later abandoned. Instead, he focused on Isla Nublar, near InGen's research facility, Site B, on Isla Sorna. By 1986, they achieved their first cloning success. Charlotte Lockwood, Benjamin's daughter, developed a passion for the science and animals at Site B, eventually becoming a key scientist at InGen. Construction on Jurassic Park on Isla Nublar began in 1988, with dinosaurs being transported from Site B.

JURASSIC PARK

In 1993, Jurassic Park is nearing its grand opening, but an incident involving a worker's death during Velociraptor transportation raises concerns. To reassure investors, InGen's lawyer, Donald Gennaro, organizes an on-site inspection by experts, including mathematician Ian Malcolm and paleontologist Alan Grant, along with paleobotanist Ellie Sattler. Meanwhile, Dennis Nedry, InGen's disgruntled programmer, agrees to steal dinosaur embryos for BioSyn, a rival company. During the tour, the scientists are awed by the dinosaurs but also realize the dangers of their existence. When a storm hits, Nedry sabotages the park's security systems to steal the embryos, leading to a T-Rex escaping its enclosure and attacking the tour vehicles. Grant, along with Hammond's grandchildren, Lex and Tim, survive the attack, while Nedry is killed by a Dilophosaurus.

THE LOST WORLD: JURASSIC PARK

Following the Isla Nublar incident, Jurassic Park is abandoned, and Site B on Isla Sorna is evacuated after Hurricane Clarissa. The dinosaurs on Isla Sorna thrive due to their ability to adapt and find lysine in the environment, despite being engineered to require an external supply. InGen's board replaces Hammond with his nephew, Peter Ludlow, who aims to revive the Jurassic Park concept in San Diego. Hammond sends a team, including Ian Malcolm, Sarah Harding, and Nick Van Owen, to Isla Sorna to document the dinosaurs and sway public opinion towards preservation. Ludlow's hunters also arrive to capture dinosaurs for the San Diego park. The two teams clash, leading to chaos and the eventual capture of a T-Rex, which is transported to San Diego. The T-Rex escapes in San Diego, causing havoc until Malcolm and Harding lure it back onto a ship bound for Isla Sorna. Hammond pledges to preserve and isolate the island, trusting in nature's ability to find a way.

A New Idea: Jurassic World

After InGen falls into disarray, the company is acquired by Simon Masrani of the Masrani Global Corporation. Masrani entrusts Dr. Henry Wu with creating a new theme park on Isla Nublar, leading to the concept of Jurassic World.

JURASSIC PARK III

In 2001, Ben Hildebrand and Eric Kirby illegally parasail to Isla Sorna, where they become stranded after an attack. Eric's parents, Paul and Amanda Kirby, deceive Dr. Alan Grant into accompanying them on a rescue mission to the island. Grant and his protégé, Billy Brennan, soon realize the true nature of the mission. They encounter a Spinosaurus, Velociraptors, and other dangers while searching for Eric. Billy steals raptor eggs, endangering the group. They eventually find Eric, who has survived alone for eight weeks. Grant and the others make their way to the coast, where they are rescued by Ellie Sattler, who sends help after receiving a distress call from Grant.

Jurassic World’s Grand Opening

Construction of Jurassic World begins in 2002 and is completed by 2004, with the grand opening in 2005.

The First Human Clone

In 2007, Charlotte Lockwood clones herself, giving birth to Maisie. Charlotte discovers she has a genetic disorder and alters Maisie's DNA to eradicate the disease, ensuring Maisie can live a full life.

The First Dinosaur Hybrid

In the same year, Dr. Henry Wu creates the Scorpius Rex, the first dinosaur hybrid, but it is deemed too dangerous and unstable. Masrani orders its destruction, but Wu puts it in cryogenic suspension.

The Raptor Intelligence Program is Formed

In 2012, Masrani initiates the Raptor Intelligence Program, led by Vic Hoskins and overseen by Owen Grady, to study the potential military applications of Velociraptors. Owen bonds with a raptor named Blue, becoming her trainer and alpha.

The Indominus Rex is Born

By 2015, Jurassic World's revenue is high, but operating costs are even higher. Dr. Henry Wu creates the Indominus Rex, a hybrid of Tyrannosaurus Rex and other classified species, to attract more visitors. Hoskins sees the Indominus Rex and the raptors as potential weapons for military use, a plan opposed by Owen.

JURASSIC WORLD & CAMP CRETACEOUS

In 2015, Darius Bowman wins a Jurassic Park VR game, earning an invitation to Camp Cretaceous. He and five other VIP kids—Kenji, Brooklyn, Sammy, Ben, and Yasmina—attend the camp. They visit Dr. Wu's lab and encounter the Indominus Rex. When a storm hits, the kids almost get killed rescuing a Sinoseratops. The counselors, Dave and Roxy, leave the kids alone to seek help from Claire Dearing. The Indominus Rex escapes, and the campers witness its destruction. They escape via a zipline.

CAMP CRETACEOUS SEASONS 2 - 5

The Camp Cretaceous kids are stranded on Isla Nublar after the Indominus Rex incident. They form a close bond and learn to survive, with Ben developing a strong connection with a baby Ankylosaurus named Bumpy. They encounter big-game hunters Tiff and Mitch, who they eventually stop with the help of mercenary Hap. The kids then face the Scorpius Rex, a failed hybrid created by Dr. Wu, and manage to defeat it. Six months after the Indominus Rex rampage, Dr. Wu returns to the island to retrieve a DNA sample of the fallen Indominus and his laptop. The kids thwart his plans, but it nearly tears them apart. They then find themselves on Mantah Corp Island, where they uncover a sinister plot to control dinosaurs with mind-control chips. They work together to stop Mantah Corp and rescue the dinosaurs, with Kenji ultimately reconciling with his friends and family.

JURASSIC WORLD: FALLEN KINGDOM

In 2018, the dormant volcano on Isla Nublar becomes active, threatening the dinosaurs. Claire Dearing, now leading the Dinosaur Protection Group, seeks to rescue the dinosaurs. Eli Mills, managing Benjamin Lockwood's estate, offers to help relocate the dinosaurs to a sanctuary, but his true motive is to capture Blue for Dr. Wu's new hybrid, the Indoraptor. Owen Grady and Claire join Mills' operation, but they soon discover his deception. The dinosaurs are auctioned off to nefarious investors at the Lockwood estate. Maisie, Lockwood's granddaughter and a clone of his deceased daughter, discovers Mills' plan and helps Owen and Claire stop him. The Indoraptor is defeated, but a tank of hydrogen cyanide is ruptured, threatening the dinosaurs. Maisie releases the dinosaurs into the wild in California.

JURASSIC WORLD DOMINION & CHAOS THEORY

In the new Jurassic World, humans and dinosaurs are forced to coexist. Sona Santos runs an illegal dinosaur trade on the black market, exploiting corrupt agents within the Department of Prehistoric Wildlife (DPW). Brooklyn, now an investigative journalist, investigates Santos's operation but is attacked and presumed dead. The surviving members of the Nublar 6 band together to uncover the truth, ultimately exposing Santos and her illicit activities. Meanwhile, BioSyn, led by Lewis Dodgson, establishes a sanctuary in Italy's Dolomite Mountains and gains sole dinosaur collection rights. Dodgson also develops genetically modified locusts that threaten global crops. Ellie Sattler and Alan Grant investigate BioSyn and uncover Dodgson's scheme. Owen Grady and Claire Dearing, now living in Sierra Nevada, must rescue Maisie from poachers hired by Santos. The two generations of Jurassic adventurers unite to stop BioSyn and save the world from the locust epidemic. In the end, BioSyn Valley is designated a global sanctuary, and the dinosaurs are allowed to live in peace.
