Intro [0:01]
The video begins with an introduction to the topic: the Digimon movie. The author mentions that he watched the movie on YouTube due to the high cost of purchasing a physical copy. He also references his previous review of Digimon season one and indicates that he will discuss season two as well.
DVD Case Discussion [1:10]
The author compares his DVD case to one shown in another video, pointing out differences in the artwork, such as the presence of Omnimon and the attire of the DigiDestined. He notes that his case features Omnimon's eyes but not the character itself. He also humorously corrects himself after initially misinterpreting the arrangement of characters on the case due to the screen's reversal.
Digimon Movie Origins [4:57]
The author explains that the Digimon movie was created because of the success of the first Pokémon movie. Fox decided to release a Digimon movie, but instead of creating a new feature film, they combined three separate Digimon films: the short prologue Digimon Adventure, the Digimon movie called Our War Game, and the Digimon O2 movie OVA entitled Hurricane Touchdown the Golden Digimentals. This resulted in some edits and cuts, particularly in Hurricane Touchdown.
Angela Anaconda Intro [6:46]
The movie starts with a short from the Canadian animated show Angela Anaconda, where Angela and her friends are going to see the Digimon movie. They are worried about getting the best seats. Nanette gets to go in first because she's special. They get to the theater, and Angela has to bat off people to keep her friend spots. They sit down, and Nanette and her friends sit in front of them. Miss Brink sits right in front of Angela, so she can't see the movie. Angela has a fantasy scene where she destroys a giant Miss Brink and Nanette. They realize they're in the wrong theater.
Digimon Adventure [10:14]
The first part of the Digimon movie is a prequel called Digimon Adventure. It depicts an incident in Highton View Terrace, which was mentioned during the Myotismon arc of the first season. The story connects the three stories with Willis. In Japan, Tai and Kari get a Digi egg, while in America, Willis gets two Digi eggs. Every time the egg hatches, the electronics go wonky. The egg hatches into a Botamon, the baby version of Agumon. The narration from Kari helps explain the season 2 stuff at the end. A subplot with their mom wanting to cook healthy food is added.
Digimon Adventure Incident [12:39]
Tai and Kari try to hide Botamon. Tai says he was on his fourth trip to the bathroom. As they're trying to figure out how to hide him, he digivolves into Koromon. He eventually becomes Agumon and goes on a rampage with Kari on his back, destroying a soda machine. A Parrotmon arrives, and Agumon is forced to digivolve into Greymon. They have a fight, and when the fight is done, everything disappears. The author believes this section was made after the English dub was complete because the characters act like they know each other, even though they didn't at the beginning of the series.
Our War Game [17:35]
The scene shifts to four years later, after the events of Digimon Adventure. Tai and the other DigiDestined haven't seen each other in a while. Sora is not talking to Tai because she's mad at him for giving her a hairpin, which she took as a sign that he didn't like her hair. Izzy tracks a Digi egg that hatches on the internet. Tai's mom wants to make a wheat germ cake. Izzy is monitoring the Digi egg, which keeps evolving. Tai's mom keeps bringing them drinks that are said to be beef juice or potato juice in the American dub, but it was actually chai tea in the Japanese version. Izzy has a caffeine addiction.
The Fight Begins [21:47]
Tai and Izzy realize they have to find a way to fight the Digimon. Gennai shows up and gives them their Digimon. Tai has to contact everyone, but Joe is busy taking a test, Matt and TK are visiting their grandmother, Sora won't talk to Tai, and Mimi is on vacation in Hawaii. Only Tai and Izzy are left. Agumon and Tentomon digivolve into Greymon and Kabuterimon. They fight on the internet. The music from season two is played during the action scenes.
Infermon and Omnimon [23:52]
Greymon and Kabuterimon fight Infermon, who is an Ultimate level Digimon. They try to go to the Ultimate levels, but they don't have the animation budget for that. Infermon attacks the phone line, so they can't get to anyone. Tai calls Joe, Mimi, Matt, and TK, leaving messages. He gets a hold of Matt and TK at their grandma's house. Patamon and Gomamon come to the internet. WarGreymon and MetalGarurumon battle Diaboromon. Kari is at a birthday party. Tai asks if Kari has her cell phone, but she's holding a regular telephone.
Omnimon Defeats Diaboromon [28:21]
Tai and Matt go into the internet and connect with their Digimon to Fusion digivolve into Omnimon. Izzy redirects the emails towards Diaboromon, slowing him down. Omnimon slices Diaboromon in half. Diaboromon says "Willis." Willis is running around with his two Digimon.
Hurricane Touchdown [29:16]
The author explains that the reason why it's called Digimon Adventure 02 is that 02 means 2002, which means it's in the future. In Digimon season 2, there are three new DigiDestined: Davis, Yolei, and Cody. During the first arc, there are dark spires, which are like the black gears. The dark spires release dark rings and prevent Digimon from digivolving. The workaround for that is armor digivolve. Each Digi egg for the armor digivolution is based on a Crest.
Digi Eggs and Armor Digivolution [31:11]
Davis gets the Digi eggs of Courage and Friendship, Yolei gets the Digi eggs of Love and Sincerity, and Cody gets the Digi eggs of Knowledge and Reliability. The Digi egg of Courage makes Veemon Flamedramon, the Digi egg of Knowledge makes Armadillomon Digmon, and the Digi egg of Love makes Hawkmon Halsemon. The Digi egg of Friendship turns Veemon into Raidramon.
Cut Subplot [32:42]
The author mentions that there was a cut subplot from this movie. In the Japanese version, the original DigiDestined minus TK and Kari are all kidnapped. In the American version, they're just in America to visit Mimi. Mimi lives in America now. They run into Willis, who is on the run, and Kokomon. Kari decides to call the other three DigiDestined.
Meeting Willis [35:00]
The others arrive in the middle of nowhere in America. They meet Willis. Willis is on his way back to Colorado. Willis takes them to a place where he used to live. He calls the pizza place and has them deliver pizza to that address. Davis is in love with Kari but is jealous when Willis flirts with Yolei.
The Final Battle [37:05]
They hop on Raidramon. TK and Kari finally show up. They fight with the armor digimons. Terriermon is not strong enough. They're saved by Angemon and Angewomon. Kokomon has now become Cherubimon. Angemon and Angewomon mega digivolve into Seraphimon and Magnadramon. They release the golden Digi eggs. Terriermon becomes Rapidmon. They go inside Cherubimon and blow him up from the inside. They turn him good, and he fades. Everyone else disappears. They go back to Japan. Davis is on the phone with his mom, saying he's going to catch a ferry home. Terriermon smells a Digi egg. They find Kokomon singing "All Star" by Smash Mouth.
Final Thoughts [42:06]
The author says he still enjoys the movie. He talks about the soundtrack and how much he loves the music. He says the movie is better than Pokémon: The First Movie. He concludes by asking viewers for their thoughts on the Digimon movie.
