In May 1997, Wu engineered Caracosis Wutanis, the Woo Flower, which was his first hybrid organism, combining different plant species. This experiment tested Wu's theories from his book, "The Next Step: An Evolution of God's Concepts," where he claimed that combining genetic material could create entirely new life forms. Simon Masrani recognized the potential in Wu's work and provided him with limitless funding to further his research, with Wu aiming to design life without natural boundaries or predators.

The Scorpius Rex, designated E750, was Dr. Wu's first true dinosaur hybrid, created in secrecy around 2009 with the intent to weaponize hybrid genetics. It was designed with the muscle mass of a Carnotaurus, the power of a T-Rex, and the intelligence of a Velociraptor. Additionally, tree frog DNA granted it rapid growth and asexual reproduction, while scorpion fish DNA armed it with venomous, detachable quills and snake genes gave it infrared vision. The Scorpius Rex was deemed too grotesque and unstable for public display by Simon Masrani after Wu was nearly killed by it. The project was shut down, and the Scorpius Rex was placed in cryogenic stasis beneath Jurassic World. Following the Jurassic World disaster, the Scorpius Rex escaped after Compsognathus chewed through a cable, leading to widespread chaos and killings on Isla Nublar. The Scorpius Rex reproduced asexually, and the two creatures terrorized the island until they were crushed beneath the ruins of the old visitor center during a fight with each other.

Despite the dangers of hybrid creation, Masrani and Dr. Wu continued their experiments, leading to the creation of more hybrids. The Stegoseratops, a fusion of Stegosaurus and Triceratops DNA, was cut from the Jurassic World film to keep the Indominus Rex special. Other hybrids that appeared on a computer screen in the Hammond Creation Lab included an unidentified Therizinosaur hybrid with Margosaurus spines and a ghoul pouch, and an unidentified Pachycephalosaurus hybrid with cuttlefish and tree frog DNA.
Indominus Rex [9:24]
By 2011, Jurassic World needed a new attraction to maintain public interest, leading to the creation of the Indominus Rex. Dr. Wu spliced together the DNA of Tyrannosaurus Rex, Velociraptor, Giganotosaurus, Carnotaurus, Majungasaurus, Rugops, Deinosuchus, Therizinosaurus, cuttlefish, tree frog, and pit viper to create the perfect predator. The Indominus Rex had the bite force of a T-Rex, the intelligence of a Velociraptor, the size of a Giganotosaurus, camouflage abilities from the cuttlefish DNA, and the ability to mask its heat signature and see in infrared. Dr. Wu was also working with Vic Hoskins to weaponize the dinosaurs, with the Indominus Rex as a prototype. Two Indominus Rex were originally intended, but the older one cannibalized its sibling. The Indominus Rex escaped its paddock by setting a trap and rampaged across Nublar, killing for sport and establishing dominance. It communicated with Owen's raptor pack, turning them against the humans, but was eventually killed by the Mosasaurus after a fight with Rexy and Blue.

Dr. Wu, dissatisfied with the Indominus Rex's death, began working on the Indoraptor as the ultimate dino weapon. The Indoraptor was designed in secret and grown in the basement of Lockwood Manor. Smaller and leaner than the Indominus, it was faster, more precise, and more terrifying. The Indoraptor was a prototype weapon that could be directed by sound and visual commands, making it a guided missile with teeth. However, it lacked a moral anchor and the capacity to bond, making it cold, unpredictable, and unhinged. The Indoraptor killed for fun and displayed unnerving levels of intelligence and cruelty, a result of its mistreatment from the moment it hatched. The Indoraptor was unveiled at Lockwood Manor but was not sold due to Owen Grady's intervention. After killing mercenary Ken Wheatley, the Indoraptor prowled the manor until it was impaled on an Aujaeratops skull by Blue.
Mutadon & D-Rex [19:54]
On Isla St. Hubert, several failed mutants were left alone following a facility malfunction in 2010. The Mutadon, a fusion of Velociraptor and Pteranodon, became an apex predator capable of flying in short bursts and ambushing prey from both land and air. The Distortus, or D-Rex, was InGen's most monstrous mistake, a grotesquely oversized T-Rex with six limbs that terrorized Isla St. Hubert. Despite its size and power, the D-Rex was not overly intelligent and was lured away by Duncan into a swamp.
