The movie begins with a family encountering Compsognathus dinosaurs on the island. Dr. Malcolm is approached by Hammond to visit Site B, another island with dinosaurs. Malcolm learns his girlfriend is already there. The team, including Malcolm's daughter, arrives on the island and encounters Stegosauruses. Sarah, Malcolm's girlfriend, is already on the island studying the dinosaurs. They observe a baby Stegosaurus and are confronted by the adults.
The group discovers that InGen is capturing dinosaurs to bring them to the mainland to build another park. They release the captured dinosaurs, including a Pachycephalosaurus, to disrupt the operation. The team finds a baby T-Rex and brings it back to their mobile lab to heal its broken leg, attracting the attention of the adult T-Rexes. The T-Rexes attack the mobile lab, pushing it over a cliff.
The group tries to escape, facing challenges such as a broken winch and the death of a team member. They encounter Velociraptors and try to evade them, with Malcolm's daughter using her gymnastics skills to survive.
