DIGIMON Appearance
Digimon is a digital monster from cyberspace, accessible from the Megalithic Mainframe. It needs to be hatched, raised, and trained for monster matches. The Digimon can link up with other Digimons for battles, and its success depends on how well it was raised and trained. The ultimate goal is for the Digimon to be the strongest when it returns to the Megalithic Mainframe. The Digimon Tama came in various colors.
The Character
The original Digimon was a virtual pet created by Bandai of Japan in June 1997, designed for boys. Like a real pet, the Digimon needed care and could battle other Digimons by linking two units together. The wins and losses were recorded, and kids aimed to raise the best Digimon. With proper care, the Digimon could evolve into more powerful forms. The success of Digimon led to its own animated TV series.
The Game
To win matches, the Digimon needs to be trained well through shadowsparring. Winning 3 out of 5 training games strengthens the Digimon, filling one heart. Once the Digimon reaches the Rookie Stage, it can battle with friends by connecting two Digimons and selecting the monster match icon. Pressing Buttons "A" or "B" on either Digimon initiates the battle automatically.
Growth Chart
The author recalls buying a red Digimon in 1999 for only one dollar and enjoying battles with other pets. The pet's status would increase or decrease based on the battle outcome. Aimed at boys, the pet was not very demanding. It was also discovered that Numemon's secret weapon is pooh. A link is provided for the original grow chart and character information.
