Recent data places India ninth globally in forest area, according to the Global Forest Resource Assessment report released by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO). The FAO, with headquarters in Rome, Italy, celebrated its 8th anniversary on October 16th. While India ranks ninth in total forest area, it ranks third in terms of forest area increase. The report was released in Bali, Indonesia, under the Ministry of Environment, headed by Bhupendra Yadav. A campaign called "A tree in the name of mother" is run. Maximum forest cover in India is found in Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Odisha, with the highest percentage increase in Mizoram.

The Durant Line, approximately 2600 km long, forms the border between Afghanistan and Pakistan. India has developed several projects inside Afghanistan, including the Salma Dam, Kabul Dam, the Afghan Parliament (Shora), and the Zaranj Delaram route. In 2021, the Taliban took over Afghanistan, leading to increased clashes with Pakistan.

The Battle of Imphal was a significant battle fought with the British. In Andaman Nicobar, Subhash Chandra Bose ji hoisted the flag of India in 1943. Ross Island was renamed Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Island, Neil Island as Shaheed Dweep (Martyr Island), and Havelock Island as Swaraj Island. Subhash Chandra Bose headed the Indian National Congress twice, in 1938 and 1939, and formed the Forward Block in 1939. Parakram Diwas is celebrated on January 23rd.
