Planetary Motion in Zodiac

The video starts by explaining that the nine planets move through the zodiac at different but constant speeds. A table is shown, illustrating the time each planet takes to transit one Rashi (30 degrees) and the entire zodiac (12 Rashis). For example, the Sun takes about 30 days to transit one Rashi and approximately one year to cover all 12. The Moon is the fastest, completing one Rashi in about 2.25 days and the entire zodiac in roughly 27 days. Mars spends about 1.5 months in a Rashi, completing the zodiac in 18 months. Mercury takes 24 days for one Rashi and 288 days for all 12. Jupiter stays in a Rashi for one year, taking 12 years to complete the zodiac. Venus spends 25 days in a Rashi, completing the zodiac in 300 days. Saturn takes about 2.5 years to transit a Rashi and 30 years for the entire zodiac. Rahu and Ketu each take 1.5 years to transit a Rashi and 18 years for the entire zodiac.

Importance of Planetary Motion

The movement of planets in different houses and Rashis plays a very important role in human life. The placement of planets in different houses of the horoscope gives indications about future events. Promises reflected in a birth chart can only be fulfilled during the Dasha and Antar Dasha of the planets showing that promise. The exact timing of these promises depends on the motion of planets in different houses of the horoscope. Therefore, the motion of planets is instrumental in delivering the promises reflected in a birth chart. Placement of planets in different houses of a birth chart plays a major role in defining a number of events associated with a person.

Ranks Assigned to Planets

To understand how these planets influence our lives and what they can deliver to us, we have to study their basic nature, their behavior, what powers they possess, what authority they command, and what are the important properties which distinguish them from one another and make them unique. The Sun is considered the king among planets, representing the highest authority and leadership. The Moon is the queen, holding the second highest authority after the Sun, embodying qualities associated with a queen. Mars is the commander, a leader of forces, aggressive, energetic, and always ready to follow the supreme authority. Mercury is the prince. Jupiter and Venus are ministers, with Jupiter holding a higher rank than Venus, representing qualities like patience, wisdom, and quick-wittedness. Saturn is assigned the rank of servant. Rahu and Ketu, being non-existent entities, are not assigned a rank but are considered lower-level servants.

Directions Assigned to Planets

The nine planets have control over eight directions and are considered stronger in these directions. The Sun is associated with the East direction. The Moon is associated with the Northwest direction. Mars is associated with the South direction. Mercury is associated with the North direction. Jupiter is associated with the Northeast direction. Venus is associated with the Southeast direction. Saturn is associated with the West direction. Rahu is associated with the Southwest direction, and Ketu is also associated with the Southwest direction.
