RBI's New NBFC Rules [2:00]
RBI is changing the rules for Non-Banking Financial Company (NBFC) classification. Now, if an NBFC has a net worth of over ₹1 lakh crore, it will automatically be included in the upper layer. Previously, RBI used a Parametric Scoring Methodology (PSMM), but now they're moving to an asset-size-based method. Also, the top 50 NBFCs based on total exposure will be considered for upper-layer classification. Government-owned NBFCs, like Power Finance Corporation (PFC) and REC, will also be included if they meet the ₹1 lakh crore asset threshold. This new ₹1 lakh crore asset size threshold will be reviewed every five years. Currently, there are 15 NBFCs in the upper layer for 2024-25. The framework used is Scale Based Regulation of NBFCs.
SBI Overtakes ICICI Bank [11:37]
SBI has become India's second-largest lender by market capitalization, overtaking ICICI Bank. This milestone was achieved in early April 2026, and it's the first time SBI has held this position since August 2019. The bank's total market cap has crossed ₹9 lakh crore, driven by strong quarterly earnings and high investor confidence. SBI was founded on July 1, 1955, and its headquarters are in Mumbai, Maharashtra. The current chairman is C. S. Shetty. Market cap is basically the total value of the company.
SEBI Launches IT Platforms [13:57]
SEBI has launched three IT platforms for cyber security and regulatory oversight: SUPCOMMS, E-Adjudication Portal, and Cyber Security Audit Compliance (CSAC). SUPCOMMS is a unified communication platform that replaces traditional email-based interactions. The E-Adjudication Portal digitizes quasi-judicial proceedings, allowing entities to access notices and participate in hearings online. CSAC is an AI-enabled platform that strengthens cyber security by analyzing cyber audit reports. SEBI was established on April 12, 1988, and got statutory status on January 30, 1992. The headquarters are in Mumbai, and the chairman is Tanuka Pandey.
Insurance Surety Bonds as Bank Guarantees [21:47]
Insurance surety bonds are now recognized as an alternative to bank guarantees. Previously, the government would take bank guarantees from companies for contracts, like in coal mining. Now, instead of blocking funds in a bank, contractors can get an insurance surety bond by paying a premium to an insurance company. This move is under the General Financial Rules of 2017. If the contractor fails, the insurance company compensates the loss. This improves the ease of doing business and liquidity for contractors.

Amul has become the first FMCG company in India to cross ₹1 lakh crore in turnover. The federation reported a total group turnover of ₹1 lakh crore with around 11% growth.
